ABSTRACT
The course will utilize a combination of traditional didactic lecture presentation and case-based presentations to summarize the current state of placental pathology reporting, current diagnostic criteria, and the new standardized reporting template. The importance and ability of the template to be customized to meet individual institutional preferences will also be emphasized.
Target Audience
The education design of this activity addresses the needs of physicians and scientists in the field of pediatric, perinatal and general pathology who are involved in the diagnosis and/or treatment of pediatric patients with pathologic disorders.
Learning Objectives
1. Review the basic criteria outlined in the Amsterdam consensus and other recent diagnostic standards in placental pathology.
2. Understand the clinical relevance of various placental pathology diagnoses.
3. Implement and apply the standardized reporting template to placental pathology cases seen in a wide variety of practice settings.
